Your First Week as a Cam Model: Setup Guide for Under €100

What you need (and what it costs)

• A 1080p webcam (€30–50). A basic Full HD webcam looks far better than most laptop cameras. Many new models start on their phone, which works too.
• A ring light (€15–25). Soft, even light in front of you matters more than an expensive camera.
• Stable internet. Aim for at least 5 Mbps upload speed. Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi if you can.
• A tidy background (€0–20). A plain wall, a sheet or a few fairy lights. Remove anything personal, like photos, mail or anything that shows where you live.

Total: roughly €50–95.

Setting up your space

1. Place the light behind the camera, facing you.
2. Put the camera at eye level or slightly above.
3. Check the frame for anything that could identify you or your home.
4. Do a private test stream to check your sound and picture.

Privacy settings to switch on first

• Choose a stage name that's never been linked to your real name.
• Block your own country or region if you don't want local viewers. On Stripchat you can block countries and regions in your settings.
• Never show your street, windows, documents or car number plate on camera.
• Never share your personal social media or phone number.

Your first week plan

• Days 1–2: Create your account, verify your age and ID, and set up your profile with good photos and a short bio.
• Days 3–5: Go live at the same times each day so regular viewers can find you.
• Days 6–7: Look at what worked, like which times and shows got the most tips, and adjust.
