How cam sites work: tokens, tips and private shows explained

Public rooms: watching and chatting

Each model has her own room, which opens as soon as she starts streaming. In most public rooms you can watch without paying, and to write in the chat a free account is usually enough. The chat is shared by everyone in the room at that moment, and the model replies to whoever she wants, whenever she wants.

It's a good way to start: join, say hello, read the room rules and see what kind of show each person does. Many rooms are about chatting, music, make-up or fitness, and others are explicit. What happens in each room is the model's choice.

What tokens are

Tokens are the platform's currency. You buy them by card or other payment methods on the site itself, and use them to tip, pay for private shows or buy content. Token prices depend on the package and can change, so always check the current price before buying.

A practical tip: decide in advance how much you want to spend and buy only that. Tokens are not needed to enjoy public rooms.

Tips and tip menus

Many models have a tip menu: a list of small actions or requests with a price in tokens, such as picking a song, asking a question or a personal hello. Others use goals: a token target that, once the viewers reach it together, unlocks something in the show.

A tip is always voluntary. It does not buy any contact outside the platform or any meeting: it is simply part of the online show.

1:1 private shows

If you want the model's full attention, you can request a private show. It is a one-to-one video chat paid in tokens, usually per minute, at a rate each model sets and that is shown before you start. The model can accept or decline the request.

Before asking, check the rate and your balance and be clear about what you'd like. The model's limits still apply in private.

Chat etiquette

• Say hello and respect each room's rules.
• Don't ask for personal details, private social media or the model's city.
• Don't suggest meeting up or swapping phone numbers: everything stays online.
• Don't push if the model says no to something.
• Report any inappropriate behaviour with the platform's tools.

Models are adults, verified by the platform, working from home. Treating them with respect is the best way to have a good time in any room.

Your privacy as a viewer

Use a username that doesn't reveal who you are and a unique password, and turn on two-step verification if the platform offers it. Check how the charge will appear on your statement before paying. And if you share a device, log out when you're done.

Get started on AmbarCams

On AmbarCams you can watch live rooms in English and Spanish from our live cam chat or browse webcam girls. If you are browsing from the Costa Blanca, there are pages for Jávea, Dénia, Benidorm and Alicante; the town describes where you are browsing from, not where any performer is. And if you are curious about the other side of the camera, read how webcam models make money.
